Australia’s Health Minister Greg Hunt taken to hospital with a suspected infection
Australia’s health minister has been admitted to hospital with a suspected infection just hours after Victorian Premier Dan Andrews was placed in intensive care after a horror fall.
Greg Hunt is being kept overnight for observation and is being administered antibiotics and fluid.
Hunt’s condition is not believed to be related to the Covid-19 vaccine.
A statement from Mr Hunt’s office said he is expected to make a full recovery.
Federal Minister for Health Greg Hunt was hospitalised on Tuesday with a suspected infection
He served as the nation’s Federal Health Minister through the coronavirus pandemic, having stepped into the position back in 2017.
Earlier on Tuesday, Daniel Andrews was also hospitalised after breaking several ribs and damaging his spine after slipping on wet stairs while getting ready for work.
The Victorian Premier’s office initially said the fall on Tuesday morning was ‘concerning’ but the leader had not suffered any head injuries.
His office later confirmed the accident happened in accommodation the Andrews family were staying at in Mornington Peninsula, south of Melbourne’s CBD, where they had been enjoying the long weekend.
