Faceoff: NHRC team attacked in Bengal, Netizens say ‘this is actual fascism’ | India News

NEW DELHI. A National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) team was allegedly attacked by goons in West Bengal’s Jadavpur on Tuesday. The team was in the state to investigate the incidents of post-poll violence after a committee was constituted on the direction of the Calcutta High Court to look into allegations of human rights violations in the state.

The probe panel was being led by NHRC member Rajiv Jain, including National Commission for Minorities vice-chairperson Atif Rasheed.

After several video reports of attacks on NHRC panel emerged, Twitter erupted and called it ‘real fascism’.

‘Mamata provoked the goons’

‘Bengal has become lawless under Mamata’

‘People were made to sign they’ll never vote for BJP’

‘It is People’s Republic of West Bengal’

‘Bengal’s situation in worse than J&K’

‘AFSPA in Bengal’

However, there were few TMC supporters who claimed that the attack on NHRC team was orchestrated and staged by BJP cadre.
