An AFL physiotherapist reportedly linked to Gary Rohan following his shock split with wife Amie has been ‘quietly let go’ following swirling rumours about their love lives.

The Geelong Cats player and his wife Amie are understood to have broken up when the 29-year-old star forward joined the AFL’s Gold Coast coronavirus hub alongside his teammates in July last year.

Following his move to the Sunshine State his wife stayed behind in Melbourne with their two daughters, and rumours abounded that Rohan began a relationship with a Cats physio.

This supposedly caused angst in the locker room and between teammates but the club still made it to the Grand Final where they lost to the Richmond Tigers at the Gabba, in Brisbane, on October 24 by 31 points.

A phone call to Geelong Football Club on Friday however confirmed that the club staffer Rohan was linked to was let go after her contract expired, Herald Sun reported.

News of the couple’s break-up shocked fans as it came just months after the pair welcomed their third daughter – and two years after losing one of their twins.

The Rohans, who were high school sweethearts, had married in October 2016 on Hamilton Island, several weeks after Gary played in the AFL Grand Final for his former club Sydney Swans.

They made the move from Sydney to Geelong later in 2018 and welcomed their daughter, Sadie Rose, in March last year.

Gary and Amie welcomed twin girls Bella and Willow in April 2018, but the joyous occasion was marred with sadness when Willow died five hours after she was born.

Amie was just 12 weeks through her first pregnancy when she first learned one of her babies would not survive.

Her daughter was diagnosed with anencephaly, a congenital disorder in which a major part of the baby’s brain fails to develop.

The mum’s delivery of the twins on April 12, 2018, was marked with both joy and pain after the new parents were forced to say goodbye to Willow.

The couple labelled the birth the ‘most bittersweet day of their lives’.

Opening up to Harper’s Bazaar magazine in October 2018, Amie said that the couple made the decision to carry both babies to term.

‘We sat down and said ”this journey has been written for us. Let’s continue on it”,’ she told the publication.

‘We had about five hours with Willow before she passed. In those five hours, I learnt so much about life and how precious it is.

‘Even though her time here was so fleeting, she was a very amazing girl.’

Two years after the heartbreaking loss of one of their daughters, the Rohans welcomed Sadie Rose.

The couple’s split during the coronavirus pandemic was reportedly not easy for mother-of-three Amie, who would occasionally upload poems on Instagram to share her innermost personal thoughts.

On November 25, 2020, she uploaded a photo of a poem by poet Dhiman to Instagram.

‘This year you have learned to trust yourself. You have seen your strength rising through your most difficult days,’ the post read.

‘You have been hurt and there were days when you were falling apart but you have held onto yourself, you did not give up on your heart.

‘And despite all the hurdles on your path, you have managed to come this far.’

Amie captioned her post: ‘Couldn’t have put it better myself.’
