New York subway shooting: Police release details of man wanted after attack | US News

Police have released details of a “person of interest” they are searching for following a shooting on a rush-hour subway train in New York.

Frank R James is 62 with addresses in Philadelphia and Wisconsin, officers said late on Tuesday.

At least 10 people were injured after a gunman in a construction vest donned a gas mask, set off a smoke canister and shot at commuters earlier in the day.

A further 13 people were injured in the aftermath of the shooting, the city’s police commissioner said.

All of the injured are expected to recover.

The gunman brandished a handgun and fired it 33 times, the police commissioner said, adding that a 9mm semiautomatic weapon, hatchet, and fireworks were found after the attack.

There were some social media posting “connected to the person of interest” which mentioned homelessness and the city’s mayor Eric Adams, she said, but the motive for the attack is still unknown.
