A glamorous young prison guard has admitted to having a sexual relationship with an inmate for six months.
Melissa Goodwin, 25, on Wednesday pleaded guilty to one count of engaging in a relationship with prisoner Corey London at the Metropolitan Remand and Reception Centre in Silverwater, in Sydney’s west.
The young officer was arrested at her home in Ingleburn in May and was accused of being intimate with London between November last year and April, 2020.
Goodwin has also pleaded not guilty to unlawfully delivering or attempting to deliver contraband to a prisoner, The Daily Telegraph reported.
She was hit with the fresh charges last month after she was alleged to have smuggled in a pack of White Ox tobacco, chewing gum, and two cigarette lighters.
A separate charge of misconduct while being a holder of public office was also dropped.
The young officer (pictured with ex-boyfriend Caleb Valeri) was accused of having the relationship with an inmate over six months between November 2019 and April 2020
The 25-year-old muttered ‘what the f**k’ upon learning her next hearing date won’t be until at least mid next year.
After being granted bail, Goodwin had pursued an entirely legal relationship with former inmate, Caleb Valeri, although that has since ended.
Goodwin will appear in court again in June.
